Acquired by Prince and Princess Henri-Amédée de Broglie in 1889, this late 16th-century masterpiece is displayed in the East Wing of the Council Chamber at Domaine du Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire. This eight-tapestry wall hanging woven artwork has been restored in the Royal Manufacturers De Wit workshops in Belgium and happens to be one of the only two copies in the world, while the other is on display at Bavarian National Museum in Munich.
There are multiple historical rooms in the castle, each of them holding to a unique historical significance. Rooms like The Ruggieri Room, The Catherine de Medici room –formerly a ceremonial bedroom, The council chamber, The Guard’s room, and The King’s Room houses different period furniture and set pieces that are unique to its time and place. The rooms are well-preserved to ensure that visitors go back in time as they step into them. From March 2022, a new space is opening up on the 3rd floor of the east wing of the Château, hosting the artist Davide Qualoya for a digital exhibition.
This grand staircase is a classic display of Italian-style architecture by French artists of the 1500s. It has a unique design with three-foiled Gothic motifs with Renaissance foliage and column shafts covering Italianising arabesques. It also has stained glass windows with motifs representing the different owners of the Domaine du Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire. The staircase takes you up to different parts of the Chateau, each with its own specialty & features.
The annual garden festival of Domaine du Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire or the 'Festival International des Jardins de Chaumont Sur Loire,’ also known as the International Festival of Gardens, is held at the castle from May to early November. Every year the festival is celebrated with a different theme as different famous gardeners of the world, each creating their own unique masterpieces for the festival, attracting 350,000 visitors each year. The 31st International Garden Festival of this year will be held from 21 April to 6 November 2022, and will be dedicated to 'Ideal Garden'. This year the designers will be amazing the visitors by showing their inventiveness on 30 beautiful gardens that are also organic, comforting, restorative, innovative, and economical.
