Domaine du Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire 2024

The Château de Chaumont, officially Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire, is a castle in Chaumont-sur-Loire that was founded in the 10th century by Odo I, Count of Blois. Following the Pierre d'Amboise rebellion against Louis XI, the castle was destroyed under the king's orders. The castle was rebuilt by Charles I d'Amboise in the 15th century and has been protected as a national heritage site ‘monument historique’ in France since 1840.

The major feature of the Domaine du Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire is the sculpted decoration on the outer facade. The rich history of the strategic importance of over 1000 years and later becoming a prized ornamental possession makes the Domaine du Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire one of the most defining buildings of the Domaine of Chaumont Sur Loire.
